Call for Student Scholarship Applications

SOSP 2026, through generous donations from conference sponsors, will offer scholarships to assist students attending the conference.

Each scholarship covers only the SOSP conference registration. Travel and accommodation expenses will not be covered.

Applicants must include a letter of commitment from their advisor confirming that they will cover the travel expenses, ensuring that the applicant will be able to attend the conference in person if awarded the scholarship.

Notification of selection: August 10, 2026 (before the early registration deadline)

Who Should Apply?

Scholarships are available strictly to students (PostDocs, PhD students, and undergraduate students) enrolled at educational institutions worldwide.

We particularly encourage to apply students from groups underrepresented in the systems community or students who may face financial barriers to attending the conference.

How to Apply?

Applicants should complete the scholarship application form and upload the following materials through the provided Google Form:

  1. Resume (PDF)
  2. Cover Letter (maximum 1 page, PDF)

    A brief statement describing the expected benefits of attending SOSP and why the applicant should be awarded the scholarship.

  3. Advisor Letter (signed PDF)

    The advisor’s letter should (1) explain why they recommend the student for the scholarship and (2) confirm that they commit to covering the student’s travel expenses, ensuring that the student can attend SOSP in person.

Applications without an advisor commitment to cover travel expenses will not be considered.

FAQ

Should I register for the conference before the early registration deadline?
No. Scholarship recipients will be directly registered by the conference organizers. Decisions will be announced before the early registration deadline, so applicants who are not selected will still have time to register at the early rate.
Do I need to be an ACM student member to apply?
No. ACM student membership is not required to apply for this scholarship.
My advisor cannot yet confirm whether travel funding will be available. Can I still apply?
No. Applications must include the advisor’s commitment confirming that travel expenses will be covered.
Am I eligible to apply if I am not currently a student?
No. Scholarships are strictly limited to students (PostDocs, PhD students, and undergraduate students) enrolled at educational institutions worldwide.
