SOSP 2024 Call for Workshops
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit proposals for workshops and tutorials in conjunction with the 30th ACM Symposium on Operating Systems Principles (SOSP). The workshops and tutorials are aimed to provide a forum for exchanging opinions, presenting ideas, and discussing preliminary results with a diverse group of SOSP attendees.
Submission information
A workshop/tutorial proposal should include (within the limit of 2 pages):
- The workshop/tutorial name and a 150-200-word abstract describing the workshop/tutorial, suitable for the conference website.
- A brief CV/bio of each of the organizers, including contact addresses and identification of a single primary contact.
- A summary of the topic, scope, and significance of the workshop/tutorial, including a discussion on the relevance to SOSP topics (please include information about past iterations of the workshop/tutorial, if any).
- Information about the procedure for selecting papers and/or presentations, plans for dissemination (for example, online proceedings, special issues of journals, position statements distributed to the participants, etc.), the expected number of participants, and the planned workshop/tutorial format.
- Tentative schedule including paper submission dates, notification dates, camera-ready dates (if any), and registration
- Indicate whether the workshop/tutorial is a half-or full-day event
All proposals will be judged on their merits, and the best proposals will be accepted. Specifically, workshops/tutorials organized at previous iterations of SOSP are not automatically accepted this year. For instance, we will consider the success of previous events (in terms of attendance, submissions, etc.) in our deliberations.
Responsibilities
The SOSP organization provides:
- A link on the SOSP Web site
- Management of registration for participants
- Setup of meeting space and related equipment
- Coffee breaks and lunch arrangements
- Organization of the common poster and demonstration session during the extended afternoon coffee break
The publication of proceedings is not a requirement for SOSP workshops/tutorials. For workshops/tutorials interested in publishing their proceedings on the ACM Digital Library, the SOSP organization will provide the following support. Workshop/tutorial proceedings will be published in separate volumes from the SOSP conference proceedings but will be listed as side events of the conference in the ACM Digital Library. The publication process is the responsibility of the workshop/tutorial organizers. Still, the main conference publication chair will provide the following bootstrap support:
- Establish contact between the ACM services and workshop/tutorial publication officers
- Provide ISBNs
- Provide support for publishing on the on-site proceedings volume
The primary responsibility of organizing a workshop/tutorial goes to the chairperson(s) of the workshop/tutorial. The workshop/tutorial organization must take care of the following:
- Set up and host a webpage for the workshop/tutorial
- Coordinating deadlines and acceptance notifications for workshop/tutorial papers with the SOSP workshop co-chairs
- Workshop/tutorial publicity, call for papers, and submission and review process
- Provide a brief description of the workshop/tutorial for inclusion on the SOSP Web page
- If using published proceedings, coordinate with ACM offices to collect camera-ready copies of the papers and copyright forms and prepare the final proceedings
- Scheduling workshop/tutorial activities in collaboration with the SOSP local organizers
