ACM/SIGOPS

The ACM Special Interest Group on Operating Systems


SIGOPS addresses a broad spectrum of issues associated with operating systems research and development. Although many of the members are drawn from industry, academic and government professionals are also represented in the membership.

Areas of special interest include: interactions with computer architecture; multiprocessing, distributed, and mobile computing; resource management; security; and interprocess communication.

Awards

SOSP "Best Paper" Award
Selected by SOSP Program Committee - 2-4 outstanding papers published in TOCS

SIGOPS Mark Weiser Award
Given annually to recognize creativity, innovation, and vision in Operating Systems research.

The PODC Edsger W. Dijkstra Prize in Distributed Computing
Given at each PODC to an outstanding paper on the principles of distributed computing, whose significance and impact on the theory and/or practice of distributed computing has been evident for at least a decade.

The SOSP Hall of Fame Award
Given biannually to recognize the most influential papers that appeared in SOSP at least ten years in the past.
